The Beer Credit Diet

For many years BaseNotes have seen friends periodically adopt increasingly bizarre regimes in order to lose weight. Even BaseNotes has succumbed to fads, fashions and various fetishes designed to remove, in some unspecified way, excess from various parts of my body. But no more. This sad aspect of modern life is now totally unnecessary. Because scientists have become so clever, it is now possible to be both thin and happy by following the amazing Beer Credit Diet.

The central concept of a "Beer Credit" is very simple. If the average fat porker male requires to lose weight then he is allowed, according to Traditional Science, 1500 calories per day. This is normally achieved by cutting out chips, pies, Mars bars and lard. If a daily total of, say, 1000 calories is achieved then this leaves 500 calories in credit. This saving can be converted into a daily Beer Credit by applying the simple formula:

Beer Credits = (1500 - Daily Total) / N

where N is the calorific value of your favourite beer. For example, a can of beer contains 200 cals (in addition to water, alcohol and chemicals which make everyone appear attractive and friendly). Therefore, in the above example:

(1500 - 1000) / 200= 2.5 Beer Credits

This means that you can afford to drink 2.5 cans of lager at the weekend and still be achieving your average daily target of 1500 cals per day!

Use the Beer Credit Calculator to estimate your weekly beer allowance

Calories per beer: 200
Average cals / day
