Since Halton became a Unitary Council in 1998 it has advanced in many different ways. It is officially designated an Excellent 4 Star authority – delivering top quality services with one of the lowest rates of Council Tax in the North West region.
Halton is located straddling the Mersey between Liverpool and Manchester and is building on its superb connections. Two motorways – the M62 and M56, a West Coast intercity station and twenty minutes from Manchester and John Lennon Airport.
Some major developments include our Widnes Waterfront Economic Development Zone, world class science at Daresbury park, the Ditton Strategic Railfreight Park and of course the magnificent Mersey Gateway Bridge, which has just had government approval and will be completed within the decade.
We have clear ambitions and believe we provide consistent and strong leadership. We seize every opportunity to improve and the message to our investors is that we try to solve problems not make problems.
It really is all happening in Halton.
